A Rockmart man remains in jail with his bond denied after he was found to have contacted a teenager via Facebook and sent lewd messages, according to Polk County Police reports.

John Stephen Stroupe, 39, of 508 Goodyear St., Rockmart, was jailed on July 16 after being taken into custody on felony charges of criminal attempt to commit a felony and computer pornography along with a misdemeanor for furnish obscene material to a minor when minor at least 14 years old and defendant 18 year or old or younger.

According to Polk County Police, they were contacted by the victim’s mother after Stroupe was alleged to have reached out to the teen on Facebook messenger and sent lewd messages.

Detectives followed up and investigated the incident and took out warrants for Stroupe’s arrest.

He remains in the Polk County Jail since Friday on the charges with bail denied.
