A hit-and-run incident in Cedartown took the life of an unidentified man this morning, according to Coroner Norman Smith.

Smith said that no identification was found on a man who was struck and killed near the intersection of Cason Road and South Main Street sometime before he was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:55 a.m. by the coroner.

The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation, and the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was also called out to the scene to look over the evidence at hand.

No suspects were yet identified, or information about the vehicle.

The body of the unidentified man was being transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy.
