A Cedartown-area man attempted to hide from officers during a Tuesday afternoon incident with Polk County Police, but they ultimately found their man and now he faces several felony and misdemeanor charges related to drug possession and his attempt to evade capture.
Carl David Mason, 52, of a Cedartown address, was arrested around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 after police came out to his residence attempting to serve a warrant against him.
PCPD noted they were initially unable to find Mason at the residence, but then the sound of movement in an outbuilding gave their suspect away.
Mason was found by officers in a ‘hidden compartment’ in the outbuilding and was ordered out, and when he finally did he was cuffed without further incident.
PCPD then searched the outbuilding where Mason was hiding and found suspected methamphetamine in a bag along with a glass pipe in a paper towel near where he was found. Police searched the rest of the outbuilding and found another pipe as well.
Mason remained in custody on felony counts of probation violation and possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor charges of obstruction of law enforcement officers and possession and use of drug-related objects – two counts of each charge.
His bond was set at $7,000, and he remained in custody as of the time of this posting.
