REPORT: Man found with meth, firearm in traffic stop

A Rockmart man remained in jail on felony drug and gun charges after a traffic stop in Rockmart on Wednesday night, according to reports from Polk County Police.

Timothy Jack Wilson, 58, of a Litchfield Street address in Rockmart, was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. on March 8, 2023, following a traffic stop that began an hour before at the intersection of First Avenue and Lane Street in a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The reporting officer only noted at the time that he was stopped at the intersection, and it “led to the arrest of the named subject” as of this posting.

An inventory list provided in the report yielded “baggies with suspected methamphetamine” and other drug-related objects, plus digital scales and Kel Tec .380 pistol.

Wilson remains in custody on felony charges for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent, possession of a firearm by convicted felon or first offender, possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession of tools for commission of a crime.
