A Rome man was jailed after he told police he was going 25 mph over the speed limit because he had to urinate, but couldn’t present a Georgia license before he was taken into custody late Wednesday per Polk County Police reports.
Officers arrested Marco Polo Hernandez Juarez, 33, of a Rome address, when he was spotted as the only car on the road in sight going 90 mph in a 65 mph zone on Highway 278 at Yorkville Highway.
When stopped, Hernandez Juarez told police he was going so fast because he had to “urgently urinate.” He handed over a Mexican National Identification Card and had no Georgia license.
The national crime database came back with no information about any license that Hernandez Juarez might have, and so he was taken into custody without further incident.
A passenger was allowed to drive away since they had a valid license.
Hernandez Juarez was later released on Thursday on a $1,960 bond on misdemeanor charges of speeding in excess of maximum limits and driving without a valid license.
