Polk County Police took a man into custody after he was caught speeding and driving without a valid license from the United States, according to reports.
Officers arrested Marco Antonio Segura-Diaz on Wednesday, November 20 just after 11 p.m. following a traffic stop at Highway 278 at Coot’s Lake Road for speeding in excess of maximum limits and driving without a valid license.
Per the report, officers spotted Segura-Diaz driving in a 2015 Dodge Charger, going at least 20 mph over the speed limit as the vehicle approached a unit setting up to run radar heading into Rockmart from Paulding County.
When the officer pulled Segura-Diaz over, a language barrier prevented them from determining all the facts, but an interpreter later helped the officers communicate with him. Police learned that Segura-Diaz had a license out of Mexico, but hadn’t registered at all to drive in the United States.
The report noted that Segura-Diaz had been living in Georgia for the last two years without seeking a permit.
He was taken into custody without any issues and booked into the Polk County Jail on Wednesday night on the pair of misdemeanor charges. Segura-Diaz was later released on a $1,960 bond.
