REPORT: Man jailed after pipe found in car, shotgun turned over to PCPD

Robert Jonathan Braden

A Cedartown-area man was booked on a drug and weapons charge after officers received a call he was in possession of paraphernalia and a shotgun, per Polk County Police reports.

Robert Jonathan Braden, 60, of a Cedartown-area address, was booked on Saturday evening, March 16, into the Polk County Jail on a felony charge of possession of firearm or knife by a convicted felon or first offender, and a misdemeanor charge of possession and use of drug-related objects.

Police arrested Braden after they received a call that he had narcotics in his 2011 Nissan Altima and he was in possession of a shotgun and shouldn’t be, since he is a convicted felon.

When they arrived on scene, police were shown one of the broken pipes that was reported to resemble one commonly used to smoke meth. Braden was confronted with this information and denied any wrongdoing.

He also allowed police to search his car, and when they looked through the sedan they found a Crown Royal bag that had a used glass pipe with a piece of steel wool inside, commonly used to smoke crack cocaine.

Officers also found multiple 20 gauge shotgun shells in the driver’s side door of the car.

Braden was then detained as police checked the status of his record, and found he had been a convicted felon since 2011.

After he was taken into custody, a Stoeger 20-gauge shotgun located in his residence was taken by police along with any other ammunition.

Braden remained in the Polk County Jail without bond set as of this posting.
