Aragon Police had to remove weapon at gunpoint from suspect

Benny Leroy Duncan, 67, of an Aragon address, was taken into custody on Tuesday after a report came in that he had possession of a shotgun while being a convicted felon.
APD Chief John Tortoso reported that he and another officer went to Duncan’s residence and found him on the couch with a shotgun sitting next to him.
When Duncan was told to leave the weapon and come to officers, he instead attempted to grab and raise it toward Chief Tortoso. He ultimately dropped it after another officer held him at gunpoint while it was being wrestled away from his grasp, per Tortoso.
Duncan was only charged with the single felony count of possession of a firearm or knife by first offender or convicted felon.
Bond was denied for his release, and he remains in the Polk County Jail.
