REPORT: Man jailed on assault charges after throwing pocket change in victim’s face

Russell Ty Emmett Norris

Polk County Police on Sunday evening arrested a man who was accused of causing minor injuries after throwing pocket change into a victim’s face, according to reports.

The domestic altercation that took place on Sunday, November 3, around 7:30 p.m. saw the arret of Russell Ty Emmett Norris, 24, of a Cedartown-area address on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and simple battery.

Per the report, Norris claimed he had done nothing wrong, but after speaking with a victim they determined he had initially gotten into a verbal altercation with the victim, then pulled out a handful of change from his pocket and threw it in their face.

During the incident, Norris also threw dog food and water around the kitchen per the victim’s statement and based on what officers found when they arrived on Sunday evening.

PCPD took Norris into custody without further incident.

Police reported that alcohol fueled the initial argument that ultimately turned physical.

Norris remained in custody as of this posting on a $2,000 bond on the pair of misdemeanor charges.

This was his second arrest of Norris so far this year. He was previously arrested during an incident after he argued with officers and was charged with obstruction when he refused to leave a property after he was told to leave.
