Report: Man jailed on charges for February shooting incident

Steven Michael Nation

Bond was denied for a man who is alleged to have shot several times at another following a fight in the victim’s front yard, according to Cedartown Police reports.

Steven Michael Nation, 29, of 30 Tower Circle, Rockmart, was taken into custody on Friday, July 23, and remained in the Polk County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal trespass.

According to Cedartown Police reports, Nation’s arrest dates back to a February 6, 2021 incident on Wissahickon Avenue when he is alleged to have pulled up to the victim’s house, began to argue about allegations made about the victim’s wife, and then turned physical.

After trading blows and at one point Nation bit the victim, he got back up and went to the vehicle and is alleged to have pulled out a handgun and opened fire on the victim.

The victim told police that Nation fired four times, and struck the driver’s side window of the victim’s car.

Police were at the time able to recover one of the rounds – a 9mm slug – and took it into evidence. The victim was able to name and identify Nation by a photo.

Nation was taken into custody this past Friday morning and remains in the Polk County Jail.
