REPORT: Man previously charged for false reports now facing aggravated stalking felony

Zachary Gregg Dabbs

A man who previously called in a report of “armed Democrats” in his yard as well as a report of an injured woman is now being charged with felony aggravated stalking, per a Polk County Police report.

Zachary Gregg Dabbs, 49, was arrested on Thursday morning, July 27 by Polk County Police after a complaint from residents on Government Farm Road that he dropped a hand written letter in the mailbox that was full of accusations and threats to commit suicide, and turned it over to police.

The Polk County Police reported that the residents had previously had trouble with Dabbs stalking and trespassing on their property.

They’d hoped a series of events in 2022 that saw him arrested at least once had caused the harassing behavior to subside, but “this note is evidence it hasn’t.”

Police additionally noted potential video evidence from security cameras, but it hadn’t been secured when the incident was reported on Tuesday evening.

Dabbs was later arrested on the felony charge. He remains in custody as of this posting with bond denied.

He has previously been involved with law enforcement a number of times. An arrest last year saw him falsely report to 911 that a woman was seriously injured at his residence, and he faced a misdemeanor charge for that incident. Additionally, Dabbs was arrested in 2021 for multiple charges after he called 911 claiming there were ‘armed Democrats’ in his yard threatening to kill him and was jailed on drug charges.
