A man who tried to get away after he broke into a home in the Taylorsville area ended up in handcuffs after officers tracked him down not long after the incident, according to Polk County Police reports.
Officers caught up with Jesse Duane Jackson, 42, of a Rockmart address on Tuesday morning, September 10 in the area of Taylorsville Road after he fled from the residence.
Per the victim of the incident, they knew something was wrong when they heard their dogs barking at Jackson and spotted them fleeing through their back yard and into the woods. They chose to call police instead of give chase, and hadn’t immediately found anything missing.
A witness who spotted Jackson in the Taylorsville Road area told police he was heading toward Highway 113 and they caught up with him shortly after. Jackson was believed to be intoxicated on either alcohol or drugs due to his behavior during his arrest, but he otherwise did not resist or cause any issues.
Based on what he was wearing, his past criminal history and his lack of being able to tell officers what happened in a coherent way, Polk County Police charged him with burglary in the first degree. The charge is a felony.
Jackson was taken to the Polk County Jail without incident.
He remained in custody after his bond was denied.
