
A Cedartown man was jailed in the early morning hours on Wednesday, August 4 after he was pulled over for a bad brake light and was found to be driving on a suspended license, according to Polk County Police reports.
Police reported that Matthew Lee Pierce, 33, of 1080 Youngs Farm Road, Cedartown, was taken into custody around 2:17 a.m. after he was stopped by an officer at the intersection of South Main Street and Washington Avenue.
The report stated that when asked for his license, Pierce told officers it was “suspended for child support” and he was then taken into custody without further incident.
Police found once Pierce was in the back of the patrol vehicle, he had multiple suspensions on his license, and also two bench warrants for his arrest.
Officers called for a wrecker to carry the truck away, and while searching the pickup to make an inventory they found a pill bottle with hydrocodone inside and a prescription label bearing another name. The report added that “a large amount of pills” were missing compared to when it had been filled, since it was supposed to contain 84 tablets and had been filled on July 20, 2021.
As of this posting, Pierce remained in the Polk County Jail with a $7,710 bond on a felony charge of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of driving while license suspended or revoked and a bench warrant.
