Logan Jonathan Casey

A man who was intoxicated and upset ended up being tased when he tried to keep officers from taking him into custody during a September 22 incident, according to Rockmart Police reports.

Officers were forced to use their Taser twice on Logan Jonathan Casey, 24, of a Rockmart address, after he refused to give up and go into handcuffs when being arrested as a Calloway Club Drive residence on Friday, Sept. 22.

Per the report, Casey was heavily intoxicated and when officers arrived and asked him to come out and talk to them, he attempted to lock himself in the house. Police were still able to get inside, and one of the officers were forced to deploy their Taser on Casey when he struggled with officers who were trying to get control over him.

He was tased twice in the struggle before police finally gained control over him and took him into cuffs and into the back of the squad car. AdventHealth Redmond EMS cleared Casey to be taken onward to jail.

Rockmart Police reported that the initial call for a domestic violence incident was over Casey losing control and attempting to leave the house in a car while heavily intoxicated. The victim prevented him from leaving, but was shoved down during the process.

During the ride to the Polk County Jail, an officer noted that “Casey began to bribe me as he was offering to give me $1,000,000 if I would let him out of the vehicle. Once I asked if he was bribing me, he then stated his grandmother would.”

Casey was taken into custody without further incident. He was released over the weekend on a $3,000 bond on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and obstructing law enforcement officers.
