Report: Man tells police his yard is being overrun by “armed democrats” found with pills, meth

Zachary Greg Dabbs

A man previously warned about calling 911 and harassing operators told officers four wheelers and “armed democrats” were in his front yard this time, but the only thing police found was the man who called with pills and meth in his pocket, according to a Rockmart Police report.

Zachary Greg Dabbs, 46, of 64 Williamson Street, was taken into custody by police and faces several charges during an incident on Saturday evening, June 12 after 7 p.m.

Police reported that they were called out to the Williamson Street address when Dabbs had called 911 complaining that four wheelers were riding around his front yard, and wouldn’t leave.

When police found just a single set of tracks in the front yard upon arrival and not even those of a four wheeler, their suspicions grew that he might have made another false report to 911. Police reported that Dabbs said during one 911 call that his house was surrounded by “armed Democrats” and had just been warned about abusing the 911 service this past Thursday.

During this particular incident, police found no evidence to back up the wild claims.

“Dabbs advised that a large group of black and white people were all in his yard,” the report stated. “Dabbs advised that he waited till they were on his porch before contacting law enforcement because he was warned previously about harassing 911. Dabbs advised that the large group of people, who he could not describe, had disappeared into the neighbor’s back building.”

All of this before police arrived and no other reports coming into 911 of a disturbance. So officers asked if Dabbs had taken anything, and he stated he hadn’t.

Police decided then to take him into custody and conduct a search, and found that he had 10 pills of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone Bitartrate, along with a bag of methamphetamine inside of a cellphone bag.

He told police that it was his mother’s medication that he dispensed, but was immediately contradicted after that when another member of the household came out and claimed they were in charge of his mother’s medication and had no idea what Dabbs had on his person.

Just to be sure, police did go next door and found no evidence of a large group of people, four wheelers or even a building to prove any of Dabbs’ claims to 911 about an emergency situation.

Dabbs was transported to the Polk County Jail and was charged with unlawful conduct during 911 calls or contacts 911 and makes false report, drugs not in original container, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

He remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting with no bond set.
