
A man who fled from a Brooks Street stabbing incident on June 3 was found by law enforcement back in Polk County on Sunday afternoon and taken into custody, according to reports.
Thomas David Messick, 67, of a Cedartown address, fled from Brooks Street on Monday, June 3, 2024, following a reported stabbing incident, where a vehicle reported stolen to Polk County Police previously was also found.
Messick fled the incident on foot, per Cedartown Police, around 6:40 a.m. He was later spotted in Floyd County later the same day with the stolen vehicle’s tag on an older red Chevrolet Corvette.
Police ultimately caught up with him on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. on a Prior Station Road address when Polk County Police took him into custody.
He was booked into the Polk County Jail, where Messick remains on felony charges of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and aggravated assault.
Bond was set at $12,000.
