Two jailed in incident following chase; woman claims she “has no idea” how man got into her house

A man remains in the Polk County Jail with no bond set after he took police on a late-night chase Sunday that ended with his arrest in the early morning hours on Monday.
Police also arrested a woman at the home where the suspect, identified as Jon Taylor McGee, was found after he was able to elude officers on his four-wheeler through the woods, but only for a while.
McGee, 30, of 916 Culp Lake Road, Cedartown, was first spotted by police on the ATV at Akes Station and Pine Bower Road where it had run a stop sign heading south on Akes Station.
Police got behind the four-wheeler and tried to pull it over, but McGee (not wearing a helmet, carrying a bookbag, and wearing dark clothing) was able to go up a driveway and make is way through several front yards and navigate via flashlight before dropping it while trying to make a left turn. He went down a trail in the woods where police were unable to immediately follow, but they got out and followed the tracks in the dew.
Officers caught up with the ATV at 861 Akes Station Road, where they found it still hot, wet, and with weeds stuck in the front. Police went to the front door of the home and found Rebecca Clackum, 57, who stated she was unaware of anyone else inside and gave permission for police to search.
It wasn’t long before they found McGee in a bed “pretending to be asleep” but still fully clothed, with a large bowie knife strapped to his leg and wet from the chase on the four-wheeler. Police were forced to pull him out of bed when he refused to cooperate and was escorted out of the house by officers.
While taking McGee out of the house, police noticed a bong and glass pipe on a coffee table in plain view. Both Clackum and McGee denied ownership, though Clackum told officers “she would test positive for meth” even though the pipe and bong weren’t hers.
Police did take her into custody as well since the pipe contained methamphetamine residue. She told officers she didn’t know McGee and had no idea how he might have gotten into her home, theorizing it was through the unlocked front door or a window.
McGee remained in jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts. Those included felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and misdemeanor fleeing or attempting to elude police, no helmet (motorcycle,) criminal trespass, headlight requirements, and two counts of obstructing law enforcement officers.
Clackum was also taken to jail and booked on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for commission of a crime.
