Report: Men jailed on drug charges after being suspected of illegal hunting

A pair of men were jailed on Friday evening after they were stopped by a DNR Game Warden for potential illegal hunting on Esom Hill Road, but were jailed on drug charges after officers found methamphetamine residue on a digital scale.

Polk County Police arrested David Treton Glaze, 29, of 410 Judkin Mill Road, Cedartown, and James Jeffery Couch, 57, of 45 Wimberly Hill Road, Cedartown, were both taken into custody after they were stopped and the truck searched when the Game Warden received a call about illegal hunting.

The probable cause search with the help of Polk County Police did turn up a black digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue on it, and a .270 caliber rifle. However, PCPD and the Game Warden failed to turn up any shell casings – at least in their report.

Police attempted to question Glaze and Couch about the scale, but both refused to say anything at the time.

Both were taken to the Polk County Jail, where they remained on the felony charges.

Glaze was being held with an $8,000 bond on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies. Of note, Glaze was previously charged in mid-December on a misdemeanor traffic charge for driving while license suspended or revoked.

Couch remained jailed on a $10,500 bond on the same felony charges as Glaze, along with a misdemeanor bench warrant.
