The Polk County Police arrested a man in the early morning hours on Tuesday after he was pulled over on Cason Road for a broken taillight, and during a search, drugs were found according to a report.
Christopher Thomas Johnson, 30, of 223 Dry Creek Road, Cedartown, was taken into custody first for driving on a suspended license, having no valid registration, and no insurance during the July 13 traffic stop at around 12 a.m.
The reporting officer stated that he spotted Johnson’s a mid-90s white Volvo passing by when concluding another traffic stop and caught up to the car before he pulled it over. The tag that was on the vehicle was supposed to belong to a 1980s model Oldsmobile, and when asked for his license during the stop Johnson reported he left it at home.
Once running information on Johnson, officers learned of his driving status, the status of the car’s registration and placed him under arrest. While being taken into custody, Johnson told officers he had a pistol in his waistband and it was removed before he was taken into custody.
Police then searched the car, and in an eyeglass case concealed within they found a pipe, a bag of suspected methamphetamine and a bag of suspected marijuana.
The reporting officer filed the paperwork to seize the vehicle due to the drugs found inside.
Johnson was taken to the Polk County Jail and booked on charges before being released on a $14,050 bond.
He was charged with felonies for possession of methamphetamine and possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, possession and use of drug-related objects, no insurance, expired registration, driving while license suspended or revoked, acquiring license plate for purpose of concealing identification of motor vehicle and tag lights required.
