A teen on a street motorcycle found speeding on Saturday afternoon by Polk County Police ended up being taken into custody in Alabama following a chase down Prior Station Road that crossed the state line, according to reports.
Police arrested Brayden Henson, 18, of a Cedartown area address, on multiple charges related to the chase that began when officers spotted Henson and another motorcycle rider on street bikes going more nearly 80 mph on Mountain Home Road near the intersection with Dry Creek Road.
The officer attempted to try and stop the pair of bikes, but initially lost them and sought help from a second officer in the area. Police caught back up with Henson and the second bike at Persons Road and Prior Station Road, and a chase ensued as one went down Dry Creek Road and Henson stayed straight.
Police continued to pursue Henson into Cherokee County, Alabama, and eventually near the intersection of County Road 8 and County Road 45, Henson slid briefly and gained control before he finally stopped.
Now alone, the sole officer held Henson at gunpoint and took him into custody after he finally got off his bike. He had slowed several times and then sped back up during the chase in an attempt to get away from police.
As Henson was being taken into custody, the second rider came up and attempted to intervene in the arrest and was ordered off at gunpoint himself. Police were unable to take him into custody as he got on his motorcycle and fled back toward Highway 278.
Henson was taken back across the state line and placed into custody at the Polk County Jail without further incident.
He remained in custody without bond set on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police, and misdemeanor charges including failure to maintain lane, driving on wrong side of roadway, obscuring tag frame or tinted tag covers prohibited, tag/registration requirements, no insurance, removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal or misrepresent, license: driving while expired, reckless driving and too fast for conditions.
