A Friday night traffic stop in Rockmart ended with the arrest of a man who had several grams of methamphetamine in his pocket, per Polk County Police reports.

Officers arrested Christopher Thomas Williams, 29, of a Rockmart address, after he and a driver were pulled over at the Smart Mart near the intersection of North Piedmont Avenue and Goodyear Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023.

Per the report, the driver wasn’t found with anything, but a K-9 unit from Rockmart Police who were called out to sniff the car alerted to drugs in the car. An extensive search was conducted, and police did find a pipe with suspected marijuana inside.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Williams was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine. He remained in the Polk County Jail with a $5,000 bond as of this posting on the single charge.
