A Monday evening traffic stop at Government Farm Road and Hutchings Mountain Road ended with the arrest of the driver after pills and handguns were found in his truck, according to Polk County Police reports.
Police arrested Jason Scott Mohon, 39, of 354 Wheeler Ford Road, Rockmart, on multiple charges after he was pulled over just after 8 p.m. on Monday, October 18 when he was unable to maintain his lane while driving his 1998 GMC Sonoma.
When he was pulled over at the intersection of Hutchings Mountain and Government Farm roads, additional officers arrived on the scene and Mohon gave permission for his truck to be searched.
Officers found a pair of orange pills identified as Methadone, and two handguns – a Sig Sauer P365 9mm and a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield .380 caliber – with a round in the chamber of each.
“Jason advised he didn’t know that anything was in the vehicle and he allowed multiple people to drive the vehicle,” the report stated. “Jason stated he’s never taken methadone.”
Police did find a pill on Mohon – a white oval pill marked TV and later identified as Tramadol – and he was taken to the Polk County Jail for booking.
He remained there without a bond set as of this posting on felony charges of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of failure to maintain lane.
