
A traffic stop for a busted tag light near the intersection of Highway 278 and Highway 113 during the early Tuesday morning hours end with an arrest for driving without a license and drugs were later found, according to Rockmart Police reports.
Ashley Elizabeth Asad, 34, of 530 Hogue Ave., Rockmart, remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting on felony and misdemeanor charges after she was taken into custody during a Tuesday morning traffic stop around 1 a.m.
Per the report, police stopped Asad for a busted tag light, and quickly learned when she was unable to produce a license that she had her driving privileges revoked due to a previous DUI. She was taken into custody without any incident.
A search of her pickup truck yielded a half-full can of Steel Reserve malt liquor.
Later on her way to the Polk County Jail, Asad reported to officers she had a pill container in her bra. When inspected at the jail, police found 13 Clonazepams in the bottle.
Asad was charged with a felony for Possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanors for tag lights required, driving while license suspended or revoked, an open container violation and drugs not in original container.
She remained in jail with an $8,600 bond.
