Report: Rome Man claims he didn’t run red light, police disagree

Drugs – including Fentanyl patch – found during arrest

Cedartown Police arrested a Rome man over the weekend after an officer on patrol watched as he turned after a light turned red, and was ultimately found with drugs in his possession and vehicle according to a report.

Police arrested Frederick Undreau Woods, 31, of a Rome address on Saturday, July 1 after he was stopped around 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Philpot Street and East Avenue having turned after the red light changed and required him to stop.

When the officer had him pulled over, Woods disagreed about when he turned and complained that he still had the right of way to turn. The officer disagreed, and reported that he smelled marijuana in the vehicle.

Woods denied having any when asked, but when searched police found a bag in his pocket. They additionally found THC Vapes marked for sale in California, pills – Oxycodone and Alprazolam – and later when his belongings were being searched a Fentanyl patch.

Police took Woods into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Polk County Jail on multiple felony charges including one count of Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, two counts of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and one count of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to obey traffic control device.

He remained in the Polk County Jail with a bond set at $31,500.
