All told, five charged by PCPD

Polk County Police finally caught up with a man they sought for warrants early Sunday morning, and arrested three other women who were reported to have been charged as well related to allowing him to elude capture, according to reports filed over the weekend.
Timothy Brian Pope, 33, of a Harris Circle address in Cedartown, was taken into custody in Rockmart near the Western Inn after officers spotted him and Magen Reddish Highfield, 35, of a Tallapoosa address, and Sarena Ann Black, 48, of a LaGrange address, drive off with Pope in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, January 8.
Police were able to catch up with the trio by the time they made it to the Garden Inn and pulled them over. Rockmart Police also arrived to help out with the stop within city limits.
Officers asked Highfield to step out of the truck, and was immediately taken into custody. Police noted that Highfield was previously warned if she was caught with Pope previously, she would be arrested for hindering the apprehension of a felon, and was charged with that and driving without valid insurance.
Additional officers arrived on the scene and police finally got Black, Pope and a third passenger not charged out of the truck as well.
While patting down Pope after confirming his warrants were valid, officers found a syringe filled with what police believed to be methamphetamine.
One of the Rockmart officers with K-9 Thor in tow allowed the police pup to sniff around the truck, and he alerted toward the vehicle still.
Police ultimately searched the three females. Black was found with a glass pipe, and a small baggie of methamphetamine as well. A more thorough search of the truck found additional needles within, suspected to also have methamphetamine inside.
The report also noted that Black was found with an additional bag of meth while being searched at the Polk County Jail while being booked.
In a second report, police also noted charges against April Dean, 41, and Andrew Timms, 38.
According to that report, Dean had reported a .22 caliber rifle with scope stolen from her residence, and noted that it reasonable to assume that Timms – a convicted felon – had access to the rifle as well.
They also noted that after Dean reported the theft and blamed Pope for stealing it, that she had knowledge of his whereabouts in late December 2022 while still wanted for arrest. This came after police further investigated and found reports from October 2022 where Dean reported trouble with Pope, and that he had outstanding warrants at the time.
Police charged both Timms and Dean for felony hindering apprehension as well as Black and Highfield.
All told, five people were charged in Pope’s apprehension.
Pope was booked and remained in custody on a $12,000 bond for felony charges of possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of methamphetamine, and theft by taking.
Highfield was booked and remained in custody on a $5,000 bond as of this posting for felony hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal, and a misdemeanor for driving without insurance.
Black’s bond was denied and the LaGrange woman remained in the Polk County Jail with felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of tools for commission of a crime and crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent.
Dean, of a Pullen Road address, was booked for the single felony charge for hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal. She remained in custody as of this posting on a $2,000 bond.
Timms remained in custody as of this posting on a $4,000 bond on felony charges for hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal and possession of a firearm by convicted felon or first offender.
