A Tallapoosa woman was booked over the weekend and faces drug and other charges after consenting to a search during a traffic stop on Friday night, according to Polk County Police reports.
Jennifer Nicole Hamm, 35 of a Tallapoosa address was stopped by police for failure to maintain lane after she was spotted swerving and “erratically tapping the brakes” on Highway 101 near Marquette Road on Friday. While she was stopped, police were finding out if she had a warrant.
A Rockmart officer with a K-9 unit gave her car a sniff, but came up with nothing. An additional search inside her car consented to by Hamm during the stop yielded shards of suspected methamphetamine. Police field tested one of the shards and it came up positive for the drug.
Police took her into custody and asked if she had any additional contraband on her person before taking her to jail. She denied it, but when the officer reporting the incident searched his back seat, he found meth, cash and toilet paper where none had been before.
Hamm remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting on charges of felony possession of amphetamine, crossing the state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent and tampering with evidence.
Bond hadn’t been set as of this posting.
