A Taylorsville man out for a ride on a motorcycle was caught going well over the speed limit on Highway 278, and didn’t have the proper license to be riding the bike in the first place according to Polk County Police reports.
Christopher W. Phillips, 31, of a Taylorsville address, was booked into the Polk County Jail late Sunday evening on misdemeanor charges after he was stopped going over 100 mph on a motorcycle on Highway 278.
After passing an 18-wheeler and an SUV after being caught speeding by an officer running radar on Highway 278, Phillips turned onto Highway 113 and finally spotted the blue lights behind him and pulled over.
He admitted he hadn’t gone through the process to get a motorcycle endorsement for riding the bike, and he claimed he had a tag but it must have fallen off during the process of driving through the evening hours.
Police took Phillips into custody without incident and he was booked into jail on a trio of misdemeanor charges including speeding in excess of maximum limits, reckless driving and wrong class of driver’s license.
Phillips was released on a $2,110 bond on the trio of charges.
