
A hit-and-run incident this past weekend ended with a teen fleeing the scene and crashing his vehicle into a tree, where it caught fire as a result of a crash.
Now that teen is facing several charges after being booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday following a trip to the hospital.
Jesse Hartman Gore, 18, of an Aragon address, was booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday and released after on a $3,000 bond following the early Saturday, June 15 incident on Taylorsville Road in Aragon.
Per the report, Gore was alleged to have struck another vehicle, and then fled the scene around 1:45 a.m. The driver who was struck turned their vehicle around to follow and pursue after the hit-and-run, but initially couldn’t keep up.
After an accident investigation, police were able to determine that while fleeing Gore lost control of his vehicle and it went off the roadway, jumped a small hill and then finally hit head on with a tree before coming to a stop. Police additionally reported that “it was apparent Jesse’s vehicle then caught on fire as a result of the collision with the tree.”
AdventHealth Redmond EMS were called out following the hit-and-run and subsequent crash to provide treatment for Gore and the other driver. While in the back of the ambulance, Gore gave officers a sample of his breath and it came back with a .132, over the legal limit for drivers over 21.
Warrants were taken out early Saturday morning after the incident since Gore was transported out of county for treatment of his injuries.
He was taken into custody at the Polk County Jail for those warrants on Monday morning and later released on the bond.
Gore faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, too fast for conditions, hit and run: duty of driver to stop at or return to scene of accident and failure to maintain lane.
