REPORT: Teen jailed after assaulting elderly victim over car keys

A Cedartown-area teen was jailed on felony and misdemeanor charges on Wednesday after a late night Tuesday incident where he assaulted an elderly victim trying to get their car keys, per Polk County Police reports.

Officers arrested Blaze Thomas McDonald, 18, of a Cedartown-area address on Wednesday after warrants were taken out following the assault complaint.

Per reports, PCPD were called out to an Airport Loop residence after McDonald struck the woman several times and attempted to get the car keys away from the elderly victim.

A witness to the events over the phone called 911 and immediately went over to the Airport Loop residence, where they were found bleeding from injuries sustained in the attack.

The victim told police that assault began when she refused to give McDonald the keys since he didn’t have a valid license to drive. He fled the scene on foot after he learned police were on the way.

Reports did not indicate that EMS was called out to help the victim at the time of the incident on June 25 around 11:40 p.m.

The Sheriffs Office took McDonald into custody on Wednesday evening , June 26 just before 7:30 p.m.

He remains in the Polk County Jail with bond denied on a felony charge of elder abuse – threaten, intimidate a disabled adult, elder person, or resident and misdemeanor charges of theft by taking and simple battery.
