
A Cedartown-area man who was clocked going nearly 30 mph over the speed limit on Highway 278 near Coot’s Lake Road was taken into custody when found to have a warrant and later meth when his vehicle was searched, according to Polk County Police reports.
Christopher Scott Haynes, 42, of 655 Friendship Road, Cedartown, (or per jail records of 111 Caitlin Lane, Dallas,) was taken into custody on Wednesday around 1 p.m. when police stopped him at Highway 101 and Highway 278 at Triangle Foods having been clocked at 92 mph in a 65 mph zone coming into Rockmart by an officer on patrol using his radar unit.
When stopped, Haynes was found to have a warrant out of Forsyth County for larceny, and he was taken into custody and his truck was searched. Police found a clear plastic box containing a baggie of methamphetamine in the center console, and questioned him but didn’t get any response as he declined to answer any questions.
Police charged Haynes with felony possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of speeding in excess of maximum limits and remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting with no bond set.
