A question: who would win between a 2005 Chevy Silverado and 2010 Dodge Challenger? The answer on Tuesday was local police.
Polk County Police with the help of a Sheriff’s Deputy arrested German Castillo, 32, of 634 Berry Road, Cedartown, and Angel Pineda-Sanchez, 21, of 325 N. Fourth St., Cedartown, were pulled over and arrested on a trio of charges related to a race that the reporting Polk County Police officer watched happen.
The report stated that both men were spotted around 6:30 a.m. around Grady Road on Highway 278 on Tuesday, March 8.
“I observed both vehicles change in and out of lanes and then several times, both vehicles were traveling side by side to each other,” the report stated.
The report noted both were traveling at 86 mph during one reading of the in-vehicle radar unit police use to track speeders.
When the two finally got to Piedmont Avenue at Highway 278, backup helped make a traffic stop after four to five additional miles of racing between Castillo, in the Dodge Challenger, and Pineda-Sanchez in the Chevrolet Silverado.
Both denied the accuracy checks of the radar, and were taken into custody without further incident. Both vehicles were released to license drivers, per the report.
Both men were charged with misdemeanors for racing on highways or streets, speeding in excess of maximum limits and reckless driving.
Castillo and Pineda-Sanchez were both released on a $2,620 bond on Tuesday on the misdemeanor charges.
