Report: Two workers jailed at local elementary school on drug possession charges

Polk School District Police took two men into custody on Tuesday after the scent of marijuana coming from their car was reported, and a PSD PD K-9 officer just happened to be on the scene to sniff out the drugs.

Juan Pablo Castano-Ciro, 25, of a Lawrenceville address, and Nicolas Murillo-Munez, 21, of a Lilburn address, were both taken into custody and later released on misdemeanor charges after they were found with marijuana in their vehicle on the Eastside Elementary School ground.

Per PSD PD Chief Michael McGee, the two were contract staff who were putting furniture together at the Rockmart elementary school and weren’t affiliated with the school district.

The pair were caught with the drugs when the smell of marijuana was caught coming from the car. A PSD PD K-9 officer – added to the force during the past months – alerted to the smell as well and a search was undertaken.

PSD PD did not immediately note how much of the drug they found, but it was under an ounce.

The two were later released on bond, set at $2,600 each.
