An incident in the Rockmart area on Friday afternoon ended with a Taylorsville woman taken into custody on a simple battery charge, according to Polk County Police reports.
Officers arrested Amber Leigh Mulkey, 35, of a Taylorsville address on Friday afternoon, March 8, after it was reported that she assaulted another woman during an altercation.
Per the report, Mulkey and another individual went to a Cedartown Highway address on Friday afternoon to pick up a paycheck, but were greeted with bad news as the check was coming and the individual being paid with Mulkey was now fired for drug-related incidents.
The victims told officers that Mulkey then became “very angry and confrontational due to the termination” and words were exchanged.
“The situation soon got out of hand when (the victim) tried to walk away and go back to her vehicle when (Mulkey) allegedly hit (the victim) in the face with her hand,” the report stated.
A threat to call 911 was enough for Mulkey and the individual who had just been fired to flee the scene.
Police later in the day during the next shift went to serve the warrant for simple battery on Mulkey and took her into custody without any incident noted at the time. Police did also report making a trespass warning against Mulkey and the other individual involved but not charged.
