A Cedartown-area woman was jailed by officers after getting into an altercation in the parking lot at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, according to reports.
Officers arrested Tabatha Lynn Miller, 46, of a Cedartown address, on Friday evening following a domestic altercation in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s Office. Cedartown Police were called out and found a deputy and jailer separating two people who were in the midst of a custody exchange.
Per the report, the victim explained they were in the midst of the exchange when a argument began with Miller as the aggressor, and the victim attempted to leave the scene. Miller then pulled open the door of the vehicle the victim was in and struck them in the face “several times.”
Miller and the victim both got out of the vehicle and the altercation continued until a deputy and jailer got into the parking lot to separate the two.
Police attempted to talk to Miller who during questioning “began to get irate again and start(ed) screaming and cussing.”
The reporting officer attempted to calm Miller down with no result. She was detained and as the cuffs started to go on began to struggle with officers attempting to place her in custody. She refused to cooperate at all, and officers ultimately had to “physically drag her” to a patrol car and drive her to the booking area of the Polk County Jail.
Miller was charged by the Cedartown Police on misdemeanor charges for the incident and remains in custody awaiting a bond to be set.
Charges include public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, simple battery, two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, two counts of obstructing law enforcement officers and reckless conduct.
