Police are seeking a Cedartown man who got away after his truck got stuck in the mud and he was able to evade capture during a Wednesday afternoon chase that ended on Judkin Mill Road.
Per Polk County Police last night on Facebook, they are seeking to arrest Lukas Cayne Glaze, 28, of 1008 Russell St., Cedartown, after he was involved in a chase in his 2004 Nissan Frontier with a woman later identified as Christina Brooke Rogers, 34, of 416 John Redding Road, Cedartown.
Rogers was taken into custody, and Glaze got away and remains at large as of this posting.
The PCPD posted the following about the chase on their page:
Dear Lukas Glaze,
Earlier today, our Patrol Officers were just trying to stop you while you were driving down Judkin Mill Road. We noticed you didn’t have a tag on your truck, so we were just wanting to stop and speak with you about it.
Unfortunately, you decided to take the Nascar Hot Laps around a citizen’s house on Judkin Mill Road while fleeing from our Officer. You then attempted to drive through some mud that our last snowstorm brought to us, but got stuck.
You and your compadre then fled from us on foot. Unfortunately, we could only get one today.
Maybe it was the suspended license. Maybe it was the warrants you already had. Maybe it was just us.
We would like to meet you, and talk to you about our encounter today. We towed your car too by the way. Feel free to hit us up so we can meet.
Thanks.
Love ,
The Uniformed Patrol Division.
By the way, if you know where Mr. Glaze is, feel free to let us know. Thanks.
Additional information from the Polk County Police’s follow-up report made available this morning added to the story.
Reporting officers noted they were conducting a routine patrol around Judkin Mill Road and Benedict Loop when they spotted the truck while finishing up another traffic stop. The truck “at a high rate of speed” going down Judkin Mill Road passed the officer, who immediately flipped around and began the pursuit.
The truck turned into a driveway on Judkin Mill Road, turned off into the grass, went behind a home and southward toward the creek.
“The suspect hit several mud holes while fleeing,” the report stated, and it eventually stopped at the creek entrance.
Both Glaze and Rogers then fled, and for a time were together before Glaze split off left and Rogers went right. Officers caught up to Rogers when she tripped, and they were able to take her into custody.
Police lost sight of Glaze, and eventually, a K-9 officer was brought out to help establish a track and see if they could find him. The K-9 took officers all the way to Shoemake Road and Highway 27 but was lost there.
Officers did secure the vehicle and ran its information, finding that it was without insurance or registration – it had no tag displayed at the beginning of the chase – and it was being held since it didn’t have any insurance.
Rogers was taken to the Polk County Jail for booking, but due to current COVID restrictions was allowed to go free with a pending warrant on her for obstruction of law enforcement officers.
After determining Glaze was the driver after several witnesses identified him to police, pending charges he faces (along with already outstanding warrants) include driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without valid registration, no insurance, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, obstructing or hindering law enforcement and criminal trespass.
