REPORT: Woman found with meth by Rockmart PD denied bond

Sandra A. Cook

A woman who was found with more than 40 grams of methamphetamine remains behind bars with bond denied on a trafficking-level charge, according to Rockmart Police.

Officers took Sandra A. Cook, 58, of a Lawrenceville address into custody on November 18 and charged her with a felony count of trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine, along with misdemeanor charges of possession and use of drug-related objects and no operating brake lights/signals.

Per an officer involved in the Rockmart Police arrest, she was first spotted on a FLOCK Camera system in Paulding County heading toward the Rockmart area and a lookout was posted by a GBI Agent for her since she was known to be a drug trafficker following her information popping up on the camera system.

Once police found her in the Rockmart city limits, she was found to be swerving in her lane and driving with a busted brake light. Police pulled her over at Triangle Foods around 6:15 p.m. Police due to the swerving were initially concerned that Cook might be under the influence, but she told officers she was having trouble with adjusting her seat in the car.

During the stop, Cook initially refused to shut off the vehicle and step out according to Rockmart Police reports, and nervously began touching a pocket on her pants. When police became concerned, they conducted a search of her person and found a meth pipe wrapped in a sock.

After finding that and with more than enough probable cause officers conducted a search, finding five bags of methamphetamine hidden within a leather bag that Cook admitted it would be. The amount of methamphetamine found by officers totaled up to 42.3 grams of the drug.

She was taken into custody without further incident once the drugs were found.

Cook remained in custody with bond denied on the charges at the Polk County Jail.
