Opening day is coming up for one of two new liquor stores in Rockmart as construction is completed, the shelves are stocked and staff is hired and ready to be trained.

Owner Clint Brock confirmed that Rock Market Beverage will be opening to the public on Tuesday, August 8.

He said the store’s grand opening will be coming up next Tuesday with a busy week ahead before the public gets to go inside for the first time.

The last of the vendors who were set to come in and provide stock for the liquor store are completing their work this week, and new staff is going through a round of training days head of the August 8 opening.

Rock Market Beverage’s hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

Additionally, there is a drive thru window installed. Brock had not yet responded a request for additional information about how that system will work out. Expect an update on that in this story ASAP.

Construction at the beginning of this year on Rock Market Beverage at 2039 Etowah Drive, Rockmart, and wrapped up here in the past month. Brock finished up a round of hiring new staff during the middle and latter part of July in anticipation of the August opening date.

His goal has been to get the store up and running as soon as possible after being one of two lottery winners for licenses within the city limits in 2022.

Rockmart voters approved allowing liquor stores to open in a 2021 referendum.

Grant Atkins is working on the second liquor store, On the Rocks, as soon as construction is completed and he gets a Certificate of Occupancy.
