Rockmart High School holding Homecoming Parade on campus, just for students and families in 2020

Homecoming 2020 is coming to Rockmart High School this coming Friday, and festivities will conclude with the crowning of the queen at halftime of the Jackets game coming up against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.

Usually, the school would be getting ready with pep rallies and a community parade. 2020 has not been a normal year, and with the threat of COVID-19 remaining, some of the time-honored traditions are going ahead with only limited attendance allowed.

Rockmart High’s Homecoming Parade this year, for instance, is being held on campus, much the same way that Cedartown held their parade this past week. The morning event will provide an opportunity for middle and high school students to see the full court, and for the bands to march along as well.

However, only parents of the court and a small amount of special guests will be allowed to participate this year, and the event will be closed to the community at-large. No one will be allowed on campus to watch. The parade plans to drive a circuit around both campuses before concluding the morning event.

Coverage of this year’s Homecoming game and halftime presentation will be available here on Polk.Today on Oct. 24.

As in previous games, a limited number of tickets will be on sale at select locations around the area. Click here to learn about where to get tickets.

Rockmart kicks off against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in the region contest.
