A Rockmart man remained behind bars without bond set after a domestic incident saw him taken peacefully to jail, but once there he was found with drugs in a jacket pocket and now faces additional charges.
Daniel Jordan Brown, 37, of a Rockmart address, was booked into the Polk County Jail by officers from the Polk County Police following a domestic violence complaint.
Per the report, Brown became irate with the victim after they refused to give over car keys to allow him to go drop off his child to their mother’s house. He was reported to have a suspended license, so he was not allowed to drive but denying him the keys sent him into a fit.
During the altercation, he verbally abused the victim and cussed in front of children, the report stated. He also kicked a door and left a hole in it and “threatened to destroy the house as well as (the victim’s) car.”
One of the underage witnesses of the altercation noted that they had several videos of the incident in different parts due to Brown turning toward the camera and forcing them to stop filming.
Police took the initial report around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and just over an hour and a half later Brown was back at the house when informed by one of the witnesses that he was back in a text to 911.
Brown cooperated with officers when he was taken into custody and was immediately transported to the jail.
During the booking process, Brown was searched by deputies and they found a bag of methamphetamine inside of his jacket pocket. Brown claimed the jacket wasn’t his, but video evidence was reviewed prior to his arrest and it was noted that he wore the same jacket the entire time.
Brown was charged with felonies for possession of methamphetamine and crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent and cruelty to children in the second degree. He also was charged with a misdemeanor for criminal trespass.
He remained in custody at the Polk County Jail as of this posting as he waits for his bond to be set.
