Mother warned one teen vapes would get him in trouble

A pair of 17-year-olds were charged and later released on bond on drug and other charges following a traffic stop where they were found with THC vapes and a firearm, according to Rockmart Police reports.
Officers took William Dakota Bramlett, 17, and Jhase De-Arion Whatley, 17, into custody in the early hours of Sunday morning, July 14, when the pair were stopped in a Honda Civic by Rockmart Police on Highway 113 for speeding.
When the officer who made the stop approached the car, he asked Bramlett and Whatley to step out since he believed he smelled marijuana.
Police conducted a search and found THC Vapes inside the vehicle and a handgun. Bramlett told police the handgun was a relative’s who left it in the Civic earlier in the day when he was driving. That was later confirmed by officers, the report noted. They did take the handgun – a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber – into evidence along with the vapes found in the car.
Whatley was also found in possession of a THC vape that matched those in the vehicle as well.
Rockmart Police charged Bramlett for speeding in excess of maximum limits, along with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
Whatley was also charged for possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
Per the report, police spoke to Whatley’s mother after his arrest and in the reported noted that she had warned him several times about the THC Vapes and that “he would end up in jail if he was caught with them.”
Whatley was later released on a $3,500 bond.
Bramlett was also released after a $19,500 bond was posted at the Polk County Jail.
