Update 4:40 p.m.:
The latest round of afternoon election numbers are in, and Polk County is expected to have a big turnout once again following a record November 3 election.
As of 4:30 p.m., 2,869 local voters had gone out to the seven precincts to cast a ballot on the day. Rockmart remains the leading precinct so far, with 670 ballots cast.
Cedartown is catching up, but so far only 537 voters have stopped by to take part in the run-off for the U.S. Senate and the Public Service Commission races being decided today. Aragon’s precinct has seen 455 people vote, Blooming Grove saw 203 people, Fish Creek had 338 ballots cast and Lake Creek 386 voters stop in to participate.
The Young’s Grove precinct reported 280 votes cast so far.
Alongside the more than 10,000 ballots cast early and absentee mail-in votes turned in, that brings the total closer to 13,000 in this round of voting.

The voters are coming out on Election Day for the first vote of 2021, deciding who will be the next U.S. Senators from Georgia and the Public Service Commission race.
In an afternoon update from the Polk County Board of Elections following the lunch hour, Polk County has now seen 1,723 people come to the polls on the day. Alongside with absentee ballots and early votes, that puts the number of voters in this election at nearly 12,000 for the run-off overall.
So far on the day, Rockmart remains the precinct with the most voters taking part at 460. Cedartown had seen 268 ballots cast, Aragon had 284 voters visit the precinct, Lake Creek reported 234 ballots cast, Youngs Grove had 168 voters stop in and Blooming Grove 116.
All seven of Polk County’s precincts remain open through 7 p.m.

The first round of numbers of those who have cast a ballot in Polk County are now available from the Board of Elections, and Rockmart voters are thus far leading the way in returning to the polls to vote.
Rockmart’s so far posted a figure of 241 voters who have come out to take part in the run-off election for two U.S. Senate seats and the Public Service Commission seat.
Aragon has so far seen 175 voters, Cedartown reported 151 voters, Lake Creek had 141 voters, Fish Creek had 111, Youngs Grove reported 93 and Blooming Grove had 65 voters.

January 5 has finally arrived, and Polk County voters have been going to the polls for the past two hours to cast a ballot in the run-off for three races statewide to determine who will be Georgia’s next United States Senators, and a Public Service Commission seat.
Georgians are asked to return to the polls – and ahead of today’s vote 3 million did so early – to determine whether Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will retain their seats against Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock. Voters are also being asked to determine who won a Public Service Commission race between incumbent Republican Lauren “Bubba” McDonald and Democratic challenger Daniel Blackman.
So far, no immediate numbers were available from Polk County’s precinct. Check back through the day for more information on where poll numbers stand heading into tonight’s tallying of results.
