Police remain on the hunt for their lone suspect in the shooting death of Ginger Leanne Blackmon Sunday night, and continue to ask for the public’s help in finding him as soon as possible.
Jimmy Brian Blackmon, 50, of 118 Rice Road, is being pursued on active murder warrants by authorities at this time. Police were beginning the third day of searching after he was last seen at the intersection of Highway 101 and Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County his whereabouts are so far a mystery.
He continues to be considered armed and dangerous at this time.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd asked the public to please provide any information they may have on his whereabouts by calling 911 immediately in hopes that he is captured and brought to justice.
Blackmon is a white male that stands 5-foot-8 and is 170 pounds, with brown eyes and dark brown hair.
He is accused of the shooting death of 36-year-old Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon, who was pronounced dead at the scene after law enforcement tried lifesaving measures on Sunday evening.
In other news, Blackmon’s son Corey was released on a $1,400 bond after he was arrested and jailed by police for obstruction of law enforcement officers. He was taken into custody for lying about helping his father ditch his truck and then dropping him off along Highway 101 following the shooting on Sunday.
He initially told police he did not know his father’s whereabouts when first questioned, then later after eyewitnesses reported seeing Blackmon get in his son’s truck at the East Rome Walmart late Sunday night.
