Shiloh Road man arrested for kidnapping, other charges after fleeing from neighbors with fiancée

A Polk County man remains in jail with bond denied in several charges after he was alleged to have taken his fiancée from a neighbor’s house to a family member’s home against her will, according to PCPD Detective B. Brady.

Brady said that Victor Duane Dostart of 933 Shiloh Road, Cedartown, was taken into custody on Thursday evening after being found with his fiancée at a relatives house thanks to the help of other relatives searching for the missing woman.

The incident began as a domestic dispute sometime between 8 and 8:30 p.m. when the fiancée – who is pregnant – ran to a neighbor’s house to request help. Dostart is alleged to have dragged his fiancée out of the house, pushed her into his vehicle and fled.

Police had begun the process of narrowing down Dostart’s and his fiancée’s location with cell phone signals when family members of the fiancee spotted Dostart’s car, and led them to a Judkin Mill Road address.

Brady said that officers arrived, established contact, and took Dostart into custody without further incident.

The fiancée was transported by Redmond EMS to the hospital for care after she became ill during the arrest.

Dostart was charged with felony kidnapping, felony false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charge of simple battery under the family violence act. He remains in the Polk County Jail after being arrested on Thursday evening.
