Event continues on Stubbs Street includes fun for all ages, vendors & more after annual ceremony
A chance for coming together as a community to heal is happening this Saturday for families who have suffered tragic losses, and those who just want to open their arms in support as the SIDS Walk returns to downtown Cedartown during the lunch hour.
The annual event organized by Moms United headed by Neidra Chubb this year will include the walk down Main Street honoring families who have lost their child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but also as a reminder of those who suffer in silence after such tragedies.
Drivers will have to wait behind a rolling roadblock in both directions to ensure the safety of participants, but the roadway won’t be closed for long.
A ceremony following the noon walk down Main Street gives an opportunity to share the message of those who have suffered the loss of a child from SIDS – like Chubb, who has in the past shared her story – and caps the walk before the second half of the event begins.
A motorcycle ride for the Moms United event after the SIDS Walk is set to take off at 1 p.m., plus vendors will be on hand on Stubbs Street (including opportunities for a snack after the exercise) as one of the first non-city organized events that is moving festivals away from the Main Street corridor.
Vendors taking part include Shuntondra Orr’s Fragrantthings, K2k Farm, Snack Shack, AvaKhyUs Aroma’s, Rudy’s, Cedartown and Hollow, A Teen’s Choice, Krab Kweens, Pryor to Success, Anointed Crowns, Money Minks, Divinity D’Lites and Miles Hat Co.
Inflatables and pony rides are available for youth participating as well.
Gold Sponsors for the event include Polk Painters, Chubb Enterprises, The Pink Place by Cyerra and Nick Chubb. Silver sponsors are Demond Bryant State Farm Insurance and Jerome Smith Construction.
