Still no signs yet of missing elderly woman

The third day of searching began again this morning and continues for 83-year-old Barbara McCray, who was last seen over the weekend and thus far no sign has turned up to determine her whereabouts at all.
Officials from all across Northwest Georgia, South Georgia and Alabama joined in the search on Monday for McCray, who has been diagnosed with early stage dementia and was last seen on Saturday evening, July 31 around 6 p.m.
Polk County Police are leading the efforts with the help of a number of partner agencies, but following the second day of searching Dug Down Mountain they were forced to suspend activities late in the evening. Helicopters and drones from GSP and Carroll County were also back in the air during the evening as well, utilizing technical capabilities like Foward Looking Infrared Radar, or FLIR, to hopefully find McCray utilizing her body heat.
As searchers were out Monday evening looking, Commissioners were gathered for their work session and discussed the efforts being put in by first responders from around the area.
Commissioner Scotty Tillery – among those out helping during the first day of the search on Sunday, August 1 – asked the community to continue to pray for her safe return home.
“You see what I got to see yesterday, you realize how special Polk County is,” Tillery said on Monday at the conclusion of the work session. “When you need something how people turn out and help. There were probably 200 people out there at one time.”
He thanked agencies from as far north as Catoosa County and all the way down to South Georgia for their help.
The Polk County Police are keeping local residents updated on the search through their Facebook page throughout the past three days, and continue to ask for help in locating McCray.
