After the announcement of the death of Sgt. Barry Henderson this morning, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office decided to honor him with a tribute in front of the office.
Sgt. Henderson’s vehicle – which has been parked since he went into the hospital for COVID treatment – was moved near the front entrance of the Public Safety Complex.
A U.S. Thin Blue Line flag was placed on the side, along with a bouquet of flowers and balloons.
Henderson – who went into the hospital more than 50 days ago for COVID-19 treatment and was on a ventilator for most of that time – died early this morning.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced for a memorial honoring Sgt. Henderson.
Check back for more information as it becomes available.
