A missing person’s case and a body found on Morgan Valley Road have been positively linked after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab came back with results on Friday.

The Polk County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Denise Goforth, 61, who was reported missing last week is the same woman found by investigators on Morgan Valley Road.

No cause of death has yet been confirmed by the Crime Lab.

She was last seen leaving Poteete’s Store on Monday, June 3, in the afternoon when she left on foot.

Investigators from the Polk County Police found her body on Morgan Valley Road on Thursday, June 6, not long after putting out a call for help locating her during a foot search of the ditches along the route she would have walked.

No additional details were available at this time.
