
A Cedartown High School coach is in recovery this morning following a night spent repairing skull damage caused by an accidental throw of a discus on Tuesday afternoon.
Coach Stuart Morse remains in recovery and on a ventilator this morning after he went through surgery overnight to repair skull fractures caused by the discus.
His wife Kari Morse posted on Facebook that Morse was out of surgery, that the doctor had to put in several plates to repair the damage.
“He is still on teh ventilator and they are kepeing him sedated because he is not doing well awake,” Morse’s wife posted online. “Also, pray for the next 72 hours, it will be more evident of the damage and what recovery will look like.”
She added thanks for the community’s kind thoughts and prayers.
Superintendent Dr. Katie Thomas also asked the community for prayers for Coach Morse.
“Polk School District collectively joins together to support Coach Stuart Morse and his family as he recuperates from yesterday’s tragic accident,” she added in a statement. “He is a dedicated and valued member of our team and we wish him nothing less than a full recovery.”
Morse, a seventh grade math teacher at Cedartown Middle School and head boys soccer coach, is in his sixth year of teaching. He’s a graduate of Kennesaw State University.
