Georgia State Patrol believes that the driver of a Hyundai Accent was going too fast when heading into a curve and caused a crash that took the life of the passenger, according to initial reports from the agency.
GSP reported this morning that the Saturday evening wreck that happened sometime around 6:42 p.m. was caused when the westbound vehicle on Prior Station Road got the curve before Dry Creek Road and was going too fast, causing the vehicle to go across the double yellow line.
The driver couldn’t correct, and the Hyundai went off the south side of Prior Station Road before it went down an embankment and struck a tree.
Sadly, the passenger in the car – a 26-year-old female – died of the injuries sustained in the Saturday evening wreck at Kennestone Hospital.
Local first responders called in a LifeFlight helicopter to provide an airlift to the hospital in less than an hour after the wreck, landing at New Harmony Baptist Church a few miles east of the scene.
Officials have not yet released her name. A full report on the wreck was not yet available from GSP.
No information was yet available on the driver of the vehicle.
