UPDATE: Officials release name of victim in Sunday wreck; GSP offers details

UPDATE 7:58 p.m.:

The Georgia State Patrol offered details this evening on the circumstances on how one man died and a woman was injured in a wreck on Sunday on Prior Station Road.

GSP reported that Michael Gaylor, 43, was driving a Honda motorcycle with a female passenger behind him when they came upon the curve just before Esom Hill Road just past Blacksmith Road, and failed to maintain lane.

They struck a white Ford F-150 head on while in the curve, causing both Gaylor and his passenger serious injuries.

Gaylor died on the scene due to the injuries sustained in the impact, GSP reported.

His female passenger who was not identified by GSP was airlifted for treatment. Her condition was unknown as of this posting.

An Alabama man died on the scene of a wreck on late Sunday afternoon following a collision that sent another to the hospital by airlift.

Polk County Coroner Norman Smith confirmed that Michael Gaylor, 43, of a Centre, Alabama, address, died of the injuries sustained in the wreck on Prior Station Road between the intersections of Dry Creek Road and Esom Hill Road.

Another individual was airlifted to an area hospital for emergency treatment during the wreck that took place after 5 p.m. west of Cedartown near the Alabama state line.

Georgia State Patrol has not yet responded to a request for further information about the incident.
